Which would be the best setting/place/city to write a fiction story on?

I'm writing a fiction story and it's about some normal girl who meets people from the past with magic powers and blah blah blah. So which would be the best setting? Include information about life there, famous landmarks, streets, past times, activities, most importantly - school curriculum. I'd preferably like a city in USA.
